UTILIZING BRANDING AND MARKETING TECHNIQUES TO EVOKE A GREATER SENSE OF EMPATHY AND UNDERSTANDING TOWARDS MATTERS OF U.S. FOREIGN POLICY.

When it comes to issues of foreign policy, the U.S. has historically taken a domineering, military approach. Whether it be the Vietnam war, or the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan. So naturally, the U.S. population would take the stance of military intervention at the first sign of conflict. However, as we progress in the 21st century, we can no longer resort to violence as an initial response. Empathy, sensitivity, and humanity should be the substitute for rifles, missiles, and tanks.
Branding Conflict utilizes current branding methods to portray the true impacts of the Vietnam war, in an attempt to better resonate with modern-day Americans. Triggering feelings of connectivity has been marketing's most effective tool for selling consumer goods but, rather than employing these techniques for capitalistic gain, we can utilize them to trigger feelings of empathy for the world's most vulnerable populations.
